Why We’ve Transitioned to an SSI Exclusive Dive Shop
At Solo Buceo Dive Shop in Cancun, our priority has always been to provide the best possible scuba diving experiences at fair and accessible prices. Recently, we made the decision to transition from offering both PADI and SSI certifications to operating exclusively as an SSI dive shop.
This change was prompted by PADI’s requirement for us to become a PADI-exclusive center, which unfortunately came with increased costs for both us and our clients. PADI’s certification process and learning materials are significantly more expensive, and we felt this went against our commitment to making scuba diving more affordable for everyone.

While we are now an SSI-exclusive shop, we remain committed to accommodating all our clients’ needs. Here’s how we can continue to support those who wish to pursue PADI certifications:
PADI Digital Learning Materials: Clients who wish to complete a PADI certification can purchase their digital learning materials directly from PADI.
Certification Completion: Once you’ve completed the theory portion, we can conduct all the practical training and dives to finalize your PADI certification here in Cancun.

For how long is a Scuba Certification valid?
Will my certification expire? No, your diver certification will not expire. As a PADI Open Water Diver, your certification is good for life. If you do not actively participate in scuba for an extended period of time, however, it's a good idea to refresh your skills through the PADI ReActivate class.
